NEW CAMERA

My dear daughter in law gave me her Canon Rebel camera.  I'm still learning how to use it but here are a few pictures I took with it.

This shawl design is the Grocery Girls knit with wool.  I love the pattern and it worked up quickly.

I found this glass pumpkin at Home Goods.  I love that store and my pumpkin.

Sunset over the valley where I live in rural Pennsylvania outside Millersburg.

I made some headbands with my Addi knitting machine for a Breast Cancer walk.

Just a picture of one of our birch trees.

AUGUST 2017

Honestly can you believe this is August?  I sure can't.  We didn't do to much.  One thing we did do was go to Muncy, Pa for an International Scout Show.  After being lost on the way, a trip which should have taken us 1 1/2 hours turned into 3 and getting lost again on the way home I said never again.  But we did go to a car show in Hegins, Pa which for us is just down the road.  This is a photo of our son David with his first place trophy in his division.  He's so proud.  Hopefully he'll be able to show his new Scout next year.  It's still in the process of being restored.   I can't wait for him to get it.

I knit two pairs of socks last month.  These are my summer shorties knit with Knit Picks Felici.  They fit perfect and my photos don't do the colors justice.

The are my tribute to Canada's 150 Anniversary.  The socks are knit with a yarn from the Canadian yarn dyer Allison Barnes, Edmonton, Alberta in her Nation's Pride colorway.  Lovely yarn but I think I should have used either solid white or red to cuffs, heels and toes.  Oh, well I already half way done with I thought about it so I didn't want to rip them back.

We have three Rose of Sharon bushes in a very light pink from a dear friend.

And three dark Rose of Sharon from my in-laws garden.  All six are on either side of an storage shed  in our back yard.

My daughter Dawn agreed to model my shawl by Madeleine Windsor in her Patronus design.  It has a lovely drape.  I knit it with figure weight yarn from my stash.

My last project for the month was this knit insert for my coffee mug knit with Biscotte Yarns.  The whole knit was sold on there website.  A little pricey but I like it.

BACK

Crazy busy around here but I did some things done.  Socks knit from Miss Babs.  I'm not sure what the color is but I call them bubble gum socks.

Nina Philips had a mystery knit along.  What fun!  She's an amazing designer.  This the first shawl I knit in DK weight yarn.  I knit it in Barnette Yarn and highly recommend it.

Our fiber group, Fiber and Friends had our first show at the Millersburg Art Gallary in Millersburg.  I warp my loom and it sat in the window of the gallary.  Now I just need to finish weaving the fabric off.

My new Country Craftsman spinning wheel.  I had a bit of a problem dealing with the tension at first but now that I've gotten used to it I love it.  I only wish the bobbins were bigger.  But when I think about it those wheel always had smaller bobbins.  I guess I'm just used of the larger ones.

Speaking of larger bobbins I've been spinning a merino and silk blend.  The colors are much softer in person I don't know why it shows up so dark.

I bought a project bag from Fringe (love it) and used it to store my demin socks while I was knitting them.

Finally I have just off the needles my shortie summer socks.  I love the colors and fit.
