50 YEARS

On March 23, 1968, Bill and I were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto, North Dakota.
Yes, 50 years ago. We didn't even know each other that long but I guess it was one of those love at first sight things.

Funny how a lot of newlyweds need big fancy cakes.  Like our wedding, it was just small but tasted so good.   Cholcate with buttercream icing.

We had a beautiful church to get married in.  Too bad it's not in color.  Along the sides of the church are beautiful stained glass windows.  You can also see just how few people we invited to our wedding.  Bill's family weren't going to attend since they all lived in Pennsylvania and since my parents were covering the cost of everything I didn't want them to spend much money.

The brides' maids all wore yellow dresses.  We all got together and picked out a pattern and material.  I think it cost each one about $11.00.   Each one carried a single red rose, some greens, and long ribbon.  Again I've been in quite a few weddings and it sure can end up costing a lot of money.  I knew none of the gals could afford to spend much and they looked great.

Fifty years later other than being a little rounder, a litter grayer here we are still happy.  We had a family dinner at a local restaurant.  Besides our daughter and son in law, son, and daughter in law, my sister and, brother in law, grandson and, his girlfriend and one cousin and, his wife. Our daughter did the decorating.  We had such a good time!

In this picture is daughter Dawn, Bill, me, and son David.  I look like a munchkin.  Standing next to David always makes me feel that way.  We love our two children an couldn't be prouder of them.

Congratulations and how wonderful to share it now with us! A wonder in this culture we live in to have a couple still married to their 'first' spouse.

You look great!
What a beautiful wedding. It's all about the Bride anyway, right? 😀
